The following video was produced by Operation Anti-Sexual Harassment/Assault. It shows a public and mass sexual attack on a female protestor in Tahrir Square and the efforts to ensure her safety. The footage was edited to highlight exactly what is happening in the moving crush of bodies caught on video. It shows several men publically raping a protestor, with several other men pressing in to partake in the assault.
This is not the first time a woman is sexually assaulted during a protest in Egypt. Nor will it be the last. However, as the woman narrating the video states, female Egyptian revolutionaries are not going anywhere despite daily threats to their bodies and practices of sexual harassment and assault. Tahrir Square, other sites of protest around the country, and the revolution itself belong to them as much as to any other Egyptian protestor. These women are not going anywhere but back to the squares, the streets, or wherever the front lines of Egypt`s revolutionary struggle will be.
